Local woman - Terri Schiavo is center of news
Hey all, since Terri Schaivo is literally just a mile or so from where I live I thought I would go there to see what was going on. You can NOT believe the circus it is up there. There is media from all over the country and even international reporters.
It does not cease to amaze me how the government is using this as a ploy to gain favors with the extreme right. They know full well that the law they passed was toothless and President GW Bush knows full well what they did was only a charade. No court is going to step in this as it is clearly defined by law. It was only to make the religious right feel that these are their guys and hey, we went to bat for you but it didn't go our way. When they knew it wouldn't all along.
#1 is who is Terri's guardian? Michael Schaivo. The legal guardian has all say over the situation as a parent does a child. Do you think Terri would want to live like this? Would you?
#2 The courts have ruled for YEARS that Michael has the right to make these decisions and no new court is going to step on another courts toes unless you provide enough evidence that make the other court look stupid and that isn't going to happen. This is founded in law and you can't just start making wild deviations from the law to suit one family. Then other families can say that you did it for them you have to do it for me. We just can't do that.
#3 Isn't Michael Schaivo going to profit from his wife's death? Hardly. All the money from their case has been eaten up by medical and care costs as well I'm sure legal costs. Michael has turned down a million dollars because it isn't about the money. What would end up happening if the Schindler's get their way is that Terri's care would come from Medicare and we would all be paying the bill.
Now I'm not saying that her life is worth any less and I don't want to foot the bill so pull the plug. I am saying that I, nor anyone I have spoken to about this would want to live in that state. If it is obvious that her 'life' is over why keep her vessle behind?
Are you a Christian? Do you believe in God? Do you believe in Heaven? Then why wouldn't you want Terri to be there with God and in Heaven? Why would you want her here trapped in an uncontrollable body that has abandoned her long ago? Wouldn't you want her to bask in God's loving warmth and glow? Wouldn't you want her to have the freedom that leaving this world would give her?
If you don't then maybe you should ask yourself why? Do you believe there really is a God, is there really a Heaven?
Think about it.
Till later
F~
